I was itching to visit Wentworth given the fairly new ownership. It’s now invite only and very exclusive. They have done a great job on the £13m clubhouse refit to ensure the club history is not forgotten. The property is quite magical and a totally different atmosphere from when you would visit for the PGA Championship to watch the pros. We played the East course which is a challenge but also a lot of fun with wide, open and inviting tee shots - quite a lot of them elevated. We played off the back pegs (6200 yards) which some may find too tough with only 1 par 5 and most of the par 3s close to 200 yards. This is a Harry Colt masterpiece and close to perfection. You have to shape the ball both ways and have a serious touch on the greens. Overall and incredible day out. Look out for the famous bacon and egg brioche after hole 6 and also get stuck into the reasonably priced club sandwich in the clubhouse after. A once in a lifetime kind of place.
