Thana City Country Club

Donkeygolf was hier op 2 december 2025! Via golfsavers geboekt, dat ging weer prima. De taxichauffeur keek vertwijfelt of het hier wel was. Het is inmens groot, eerst een toegangspoort met bewaking dan een lange oprijlaan. Bij de grote fontijn met een grote bal zijn er 2 ingangen: 1 voor het resort en 1 voor de golfbaan. Overal helpende handen om je spullen op de juiste plek te krijgen. Ben op de DR geweest, is een klein stukje lopen, maar ik kreeg 2 keer ‘n aanbod om met een buggy gebracht te worden. De DR is een chique boel. Ook hier weer veel personeel. Mijn tas werd opgepakt naar een vrije mat. ‘N andere medewerker kwam met 3 trays ballen aan. Het geheel was niet goedkoop; € 15 voor 1 uur met gebruik van de kwaliteitsballen en trackman. Hapjes en drankjes, zeg maar wat je hebben wil. Op mijn vraag of er ‘n puttinggreen was; yes sir, omgerekend iets meer dan €8,-. Nee, dank je wel, ik zag dat er bij het startershuisje ook ‘n puttinggreen was en wel gratis. Daarnaast een erbarmelijke chipping green. Was wel weer een stukje lopen. Helemaal aan de andere kant van de DR zit ‘n bedrijfje J.BLK. Je kunt hier les krijgen maar ook gewoon oefenen. Heel veel mogelijkheden en natuurlijk hapjes en drankjes. Wil je dit allemaal nog vóór je ronde doen reken dan op minimaal 1 uur. Ik meldde mij ruim op tijd in de golfshop. De shop is goed gevuld. De leuke polo’s met kleuren en print zijn er wel in mijn maat maar ze zijn veel te lang. Mijn tas gaat naar beneden waar mijn Caddy Joy een en ander gaat uitleggen. Daarna nog even putten op de mooie gratis en snelle puttinggreen. Joy had ondertussen niet stilgezeten. Ons karretje had ze dichterbij hole 1 gezet en we zouden ipv een flight van 4 een flight van 2 hebben. Goed gedaan Joy, daar worden we blij van. Een flight van 4 bestaat uit 8 personen en dat is best wel veel. De baan is erg ruim; veel met de driver afslaan en proberen met ‘n houtje vanaf het gras verder te slaan. Joy bediende het schermpje waarbij ze aangaf hoever het was naar ‘n bepaalde hindernis. Water is de belangrijkste maar de bunkers zijn groot en stijl. We hebben een erg leuke ronde gehad, mede door de spontane Joy. Donkey vond dat de caddy’s prachtige kleding aanhadden. Donkeygolf 2025

For me the first time to visit this Greg Norman design Golf & Country Club. And no regrets to have done so! The course is very flat (no buggy needed) with lots of strategically located water hazards and bunkers. Especially the water hazards ask for smart course management but it is obvious Greg Norman has carefully integrated these in order to challenge you and to think about questions of risk and reward. When you play it for the first time: let the friendly and skillful caddies guide you. Standing on the first tee you see a very wide and inviting fairway in front of you. A good and friendly way to start….until you find out that a good tee shot, followed by two more good shots may still not get you on the green. The friendliness as experienced on the tee is gone. It’s a long deceptive monster and a sign of what is awaiting you the following 17 holes. None of the holes is easier than they look from the tee. And yet, it is a friendly course when your course management is under control. Compared to other courses in this part of Bangkok I think Thana City is the better choice. Maybe not as attractive as Thai Country and The Royal Golf & Country Club, but definitely better than the likes of Green Valley and Muang Kaew. Thana City is very near to the airport and thus suffers from the noice of many landing and departing airplanes. You better accept and try to ignore it, otherwise it can ruin your day. Caddies are as usual a delight to work with.

While Thana City may not have the dramatic landscapes of some of Thailand’s more famous resorts, it compensates with accessibility, quality maintenance, and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. It’s an excellent choice for both casual golfers and those looking for a reliable course near Bangkok, earning a solid recommendation for its consistency and playability.

Goed onderhouden golfbaan vlakbij bkk vliegveld. Caddies zeer behulpzaam. Ondanks dat het druk was, was het tempo toch prima.

Le parcours de golf était bien entretenu. Situé à proximité de l'aéroport de Bangkok mais pas le vol des avions ne derange pas plus que cela. Les caddies sont très serviables même si la mienne ne parlait pas trop bien anglais. Quand même beaucoup de monde avec un jeu un peu lent. Proshop et Restaurant sympa.
