Schijn bedriegt! De baan oogt niet direct als een fraaie parkbaan door z'n open karakter en losse boomgroepen. De fairways zijn breed en door de droogte niet overal even groen, de greens zijn goed. Hier en daar is een waterhindernis of staat er een boom in de fairway. Ten opzichte van enkele jaren geleden is de baan beter onderhouden. Van grote invloed hier is de wind welke vanaf de nabijgelegen Oceaan stevig kan zijn. Ingrediënten die het spelresultaat behoorlijk kunnen beïnvloeden. De panorama's vanaf de baan zijn fraai met op de achtergrond fraaie bergcontouren.

Strand might not be the most glamorous course with pristine fairways, but it is a really interesting golf course with some holes that you don’t see elsewhere. I played here on a day where the wind was howling and it made it very difficult, lost many balls.

The condition of the course is not as good as neighbours such as Erinvale but that’s probably reflected in the price. It’s not terrible but not as lush as some others.

Some of the holes I enjoyed the most were the 2nd,4th and the 7th.

The 2nd is a par 5, very reachable in two but fraught with danger. A good drive leaves a comfortable 6/7 iron but the green is almost completely surround by bush and a narrow neck leading to the green. The 4th is a driveable par 4, almost in the category of a long par 3, go long and you’re in a bit of trouble but the enticement is there to go for the green in one and the 7th is another driveable par 4 but trees line the left side and also short left of the green, so you need pinpoint accuracy to reach the green.

Other than that they have a driving range and two large putting/chipping greens so the facilities are pretty good!

Whilst it’s not going to blow you away I found Strand a very fun round to play with down-to-earth people.

Er is de afgelopen jaren wel wat verbeterd, er is beregening sommige paden zijn verhard het resultaat is, meer groen en dus beter speelbaar. Het lijkt een simpel baantje, maar schijn bedriegt op diverse plaatsen is er water in het spel en de fairways zijn soms erg “natuurlijk”. Maar zeker op maandag erg goedkoop 800 Rand,2 pers met buggy,44 euro. Het is minder druk als voor Corona en dus makkelijker reserveren.

Clubhuis stelt niet veel voor, wat houten picknick tafels.

Door de omgeving van de baan is het wel leuk golfen.
