The MET (as it is affectionally known by its members and visitors) was commissioned by the City of Cape Town and rebuilt in 2010 by local Golf Course Architect, Mark Müller. The Met has 18 holes, each with separate tees, together with 14 world class greens that share 9 beautiful fairways. Bent Grass greens and Kikuyu fairways line this parkland designed ground. MetropolitanDe baan, het clubhuis etc is redelijk verouderd. Waar je normaal water krijgt als je een buggy huurt, niet bij The Metropolitan. De minste baan die we in Zuid-Afrika gespeeld hebben. Niet voor herhaling vatbaar. Prijs/kwaliteit is niet in balans.

MetropolitanThe Metropolitan 9 hole golfcourse is at the moment far better than before The football World Cup in 2010. Of course a bit short but more square meters were not available. But due to double tee box you are able to play more than 9 holes if you want. There no driving range but that is quite clear. The maintenance is fine and the course is nice to play with wind from the Atlantic ocean and views on Table Mountain. Just a nice course to enjoy when visiting Cape Town or Sea Point before you leave the Western Cape.

MetropolitanWhat a great location for a golf course, right in the heart of the Cape Town waterfront. The course itself is ostensibly a 9-hole course but with a twist that there are separate greens on some holes and combined, incredibly large ones on others. There are separate tee boxes for all 18 holes. It’s in pretty good condition and the greens are good.
It’s right near the Sea Point stadium and incredibly the friend I was playing with managed to put a ball on the roof of the stadium. I did find the pace of play quite slow even though were started fairly early in the morning but other than that it’s a nice place for a bit of holiday golf. The 9th/18th is a pretty cool par 3 over water in front of the club house, pretty challenging hole as it’s probably 160-170m long depending on the pin position.

MetropolitanThe Metropolitan is a fun 9 hole course to play. It’s uniquely situated in the heart of Cape Town in Sea Point between Signal Hill and the ocean and it’s right next to the impressive Sea Point stadium. It has great views of Table Mountain.
It’s a relatively easy course, but the condition is excellent and the greens are some of the best in the Cape…incredibly true and pretty quick.

9 holesThe Metropolitan Golf Club was reconstructed and opened for play in May 2010. Lying in the shadow of Table Mountain and the 2010 Football World Cup Stadium, the course belies the 9 hole status and 14 greens. With long and or separate tees, together with 14 Greens, the course plays very much like an 18 hole layout. The large greens and wide fairways make the course very playable for the average amateur while still a test for the lower handicapper. The course is parkland in design with Bent Grass greens and Kikuyu fairways. 4 different species of local grasses have been planted in various areas of the rough, giving the course a very distinctive look. While situated on the coast, the wind is far less of a factor than is normal to other surrounding areas of the Cape Peninsula and this further facilitates the ability to keep the course in superb playing condition. The course designer, Mark Muller, has created something of real significance, and the variation of holes together with the proximity of the City of Cape Town metropolitan area makes this a “must be played” course. The closing 18th par 3 hole over water will long be remembered by those who visit and play the course.
