Irene Country Club

Unfortunately I feel a slightly decreased level of quality around this golf club. The course itself meaning tee, fairway and greens deserve a higher grade. But the level of service is not up to standard. Bad assistance renting a cart, no balls available at the range. I waited almost 20 min to first find the staff at the range and then get hold of balls. This ruined my possibilities to prepare for my round. Unacceptable. The river running through the course is often flooded, which create severe pollution with a lot of garbage lying around the course. What bothers me is that I don’t see an effort to clean it up. I’ve played this course several times during the latest 5 years, but this was most likely the last time.

This 18 holes parkland course is located in a suburb of Pretoria and has a wide range of sporting facilities.

Golf, tennis, bowling, cricket, etc Therefore a variety of people you meet and therefore a pleasant environment. The course a par 72 can be played from blue or wide(ladies red) is not that difficult and therefore a relaxed round of golf. There is no water and also bunkers are not that many. However that will not say it is easy, it still require reasonable straight shots to come to a decent score. Clubhouse and talking to players with different sporting background is a nice bonus and enjoyable.

On the day I played here. The course was very dry, but in saying that, there was a bad drought. And for the courses I played back then, one could see that this course is well looked after and green most of the time.
